The RSPCA Bristol Branch and Bristol Dogs & Cats Home are encouraging animal lovers to do something special for animals in need and organise their own fun packed fundraising activity to raise vital funds for the charity which is struggling in the current economic climate.
Jill Roynon, Fundraising Manager said “The need for our services has never been more apparent than during this recession. With the number of unwanted animals on the increase, more families on a lower income needing our veterinary care and with fewer donations coming in, we have never needed people’s help more! So please, show what a nation of animals lovers can really do to help those less fortunate!”
Lee Coombs, Assistant Manager of the Bristol Dogs Home added, “Our stocks of animal food are drastically low. Last years winter food appeal was considerably less successful than previous years, with donations that would normally last us 6 months already running dry! You can make a big difference by donating an extra tin of food or organising your own fundraising activity – perhaps hold a dress down day in your workplace or have a cake sale at school. Maybe organise a fancy dress party with a group of friends or challenge yourself to a sponsored something – the wackier the better! We can even provide a free fundraising pack containing lots of useful information, ideas and resources to get you started.”
Caring for so many animals in need costs the RSPCA Bristol Branch & Bristol Dogs and Cats Home over £4,000 a day. Although affiliated to the RSPCA, the Bristol Branch is actually an independent charity that receives no financial support from the National RSPCA, Government or lottery but relies entirely upon the support of the community through donations, fundraising and bequests in order to give every animal the chance for a future free of pain or neglect.
So put the FUN into Fundraising and help make a difference to the lives of animals in need! For your free fundraising pack or for more information please check our fundraising pages, call 0117 3003968 or email rebecca.
